Spreading My Wings

This year I will celebrate my 10th anniversary with Creative Memories. The journey has been one of many delights as well as challenges. I love the mission of the company and how I have been able to help so many people overcome their 'designer's block' and do the real work of preserving their family's photo history and helping others learn how to be consultants, too.

Jumping out of a familiar nest and learning to fly new places is scary business, but so worth it. To this day I still find people who are hesitant to cut a photo, who don't want to 'mess up' their page with their writing or simply feel overwhelmed by their photos. It is a privilege to help them overcome these blocks.

I have had to overcome blocks, too. I initially had reservations about digital scrapbooking, but when I saw how beautiful the books are that CM prints and then tried their software I was sold. I had been taking a course in CS3 (InDesign) to upskill in preparation for my return to the workforce and felt that learning to use digital software might overwhelm people, especially those without IT skills, like the professional packages can.

However, when I tried Storybook Plus I was pleasantly surprised by how easy and intuitive it was. Just as Memory Manager's photo editing capability had impressed me, so did this powerful little graphic design package. Below are a few recent pages created using StoryBook Plus 3.0. This first one is a straight drag and drop template (all I did was add my pictures and write up the story). Anyone can do pages like these and get a beautiful, quick result.

This was made from scratch using CM digital paper packages and inserting some type embellishments.

These two feature Runaway Bride, from Fishbowl Designs who recently added me to their Creative Team.

I am glad for the many learning curves I have had as a designer, a CM consultant and now as a blogger and Fishbowl CT member! I hope you will spread your wings and try digital, too, if you haven't yet!
